A little about me…

I am Dawn Swinley, founder of Mode de Vie.

I’m a Nutritional Therapist known as The Drop a Dress Size Coach and my passion is health and nutrition. I help peri menopausal women take the PAUSE of of menopause and I believe that ‘you are what you eat’ and that wellness is a journey, a way of life in fact.

How I got here.

My background is in hotel management and air cabin crew with a well-known airline. I then married, had twins (I know… I am very lucky) and became a full time mum.

Weight Management always interested me

I’ve always been interested in nutrition and wanted to bring in an extras income but also wanted to be at home so I started working from home with a Health & Nutrition Company. I loved all the natural products and got really interested and involved with the weight management side of the business.

Then my life spiraled out of control.

Like so many people life doesn’t always run smoothly.  I was struggling with huge personal, health and family challenges and with it I gained an extra two stone in weight.

I was very low for a while but I decided to take positive action.

I did lots of research on menopause, diet and natural supplements; I qualified with a distinction level 4 diploma NCFE in Nutrition and I am fully registered with the CMA (Complimentary Medical Association).

Simple changes made the difference.

I implemented what I learnt, I ditched some bad habits such as skipping breakfast and swapped it for a nutritional smoothie, I started walking the dog (even in the rain!), small changes over a period of time and I feel the best I have in years. I feel healthy, I’ve shed over 1 and a half stone.

Now I am in my 50’s and feel fabulous again.

I work with women on very simple changes to their lifestyle following my 3 easy step programme which in turn creates huge long term positive results. I help look at your whole lifestyle, diet, exercise (or lack of it!) daily stresses, chemical reactions and hormone imbalances.

Whatever your health goals are nutrition is the key! Hippocrates knew it back then and things really haven’t changes that much. We need fuel to function and my question to you is; are you running on empty or sub standard fuel?

Today we are surrounded by temptation

Our lives are fast, full of stress and we are bombarded by fast food, snacks, pre-packaged food, hidden SUGARS and lots of contradicting information.  No wonder we make poor choices at times. But it’s simply about knowing how to make better choices and making new simple habits part of your life.


26SecondsIt’s not just the inside we need to look after.

Did you know it takes ONLY 26 seconds for chemicals to enter your bloodstream putting even more pressure on our bodies, whether that’s shampooing your hair, brushing your teeth or cleaning the toilet. SCARY stuff as all these chemicals that blast us on a daily basis, (over 100 and as much as 500 for women) also has a detrimental effect on our health.

MY PASSION to help you and COACH you how to get a good balance on the inside and to get you to your optimal health level, knowing what your body needs to achieve.

Life is for living

I am a firm believer that ‘life is for living’, I don’t believe in faddy diets – WHY? You may ask! Anyone can lose weight on a controlled diet, whether it’s ‘low carb’, ‘low fat’, Atkins and so on. But if you go back to doing and eating as before you will pile it all back on and MORE! Having a little something of what you fancy isn’t going to hurt, having a slice of carrot cake and a lovely cup of tea is perfectly acceptable but eating a whole cake regularly isn’t, MODERATION is KEY not OVER INDULGENCE or DEPRIVATION!!!!

80/20 Rule

If you follow the 80/20 rule – 80% of the time you eat a nutrient dense healthy diet and 20% you indulge in the ‘naughty stuff’ you will have a balanced diet; mix it up a bit with some exercise and base it on 80% nutrition and 20% moving your body then you will have a balanced healthier lifestyle.

The CMS, Complimentary Medical Association, is a non-profit organisation and their primary aim is to promote ethical, responsible, professional complementary medicine to the public and the medical profession.
